Founded in the early 2000s, Cenneys Institute of Hotel Management began with a clear vision: to create a world-class hospitality education platform in the heart of Salem, Tamil Nadu. At a time when awareness about career opportunities in the hotel and tourism industry was limited, Mr. S. Venkatesh, a seasoned hotelier with over 28 years of industry experience, took the bold step of establishing a specialized institute to bridge that gap.

What started as a small academic initiative has grown into a renowned institution, recognized for its hands-on training model, industry-relevant curriculum, and strong ties with the professional hospitality world. The institute’s affiliation with Periyar University and its direct connection to Cenneys Gateway. Salem’s only government-approved 4-star premium hotel set it apart from other hospitality colleges in the region.
